Nail extensions, though a quick way to get beautiful nails, isn't something you should wear often. Artificial nails are fine for special occasions, but for the rest of the time, a good manicure with nail polish on your real fingernails are your best bet. Better yet, go for a french manicure.
Why?
Nail extensions are bad for your nails. Bacteria thrives between your real nail bed and the artificial nail. Not only that, your nails are more likely to get fungal infections with the regular use of artificial nails. The chemicals used in acrylic nails can cause allergies as well.
If you would like beautiful nails, do it the natural way. Get them healthy.
- Refrain from biting your nails.
- Wash your nails and scrub underneath them with a nail brush.
- Moisturize your nails daily. Massage Crabtree and Evelyn nail and cuticle moisturizers into your nails every night before you sleep.
- Take hair and nail supplements. Another supplement that's great for skin,hair and nails is pueraria mirifica meant ONLY for women.
- Do not use your nails to pick anything.
- Trim them with a nail clipper.
That could have been avoided if a base coat had been used before putting on the color.
French Manicure
Beautiful natural nails are a healthy pink over the bed, but with white tips. A french manicure mimics that look with the subtle use of nail polish. It looks like naturally beautiful nails, only prettierAll you need is a base coat, a top coat, a pink nail polish and a white nail polish.
How to do a frend manicure
- Remove all the old nail polish from your nails with a nail polish remover.
- Wash and dry nails.
- Apply base coat by painting downwards from base to tip of each nail in 3 strokes.
- Once the base coat is dry, paint on the pink nail polish from base to tip of the nail in 3 strokes.
- Wait for the pink nail polish to dry. Then paint a crescent over the tips of the nail with the white nail polish.
- Once the white polish is dry, pain on a top coat and let that dry completely before you do anything with your hands
Nail Art
For something a little more fancy, try nail art. Choose a color for the background and the colors for the artwork. Practice your strokes on a piece of paper before you actually paint your nails. If you make a mistake on your nails, chances are you'd have to remove all the polish from that nail and start from scratch.- Remove all the old nail polish from your nails with a nail polish remover.
- Wash and dry nails.
- Apply base coat by painting downwards from base to tip of each nail in 3 strokes.
- Once the base coat is dry, paint on the nail polish for the background of your masterpiece from base to tip of the nail in 3 strokes.
- Once the nail polish is completely dry, paint on your artwork.
- Once completely dry, protect your masterpiece with a layer of top coat.
