I explored the reservoir with my family on one of our sunday morning walks. Typically we would hike to a scenic place and then have our breakfast - a fun family picnic. On the way back, we chanced upon a kayak rental hut manned by a former lifeguard.
The kayaks there were very safe, or so we were told. The only way they'd capsize was if someone were fooling around. In any case, the life boat was ready for rescues should there ever be a need. No one is allowed out the pier without a life jacket - another safety precaution.
The paddling area was cordoned off so that the lifeguard could keep an eye on everyone in the kayaks, in case anything should go wrong.
We rented a 2-seater kayak for an hour, for the entire family to share.
First my husband took our younger kid out in the kayak, when he returned, it was my turn with my older one. I made sure he knew how to steer the boat. Then we let both kids have their fun exploring the paddling area in the kayak.
That was one of our most memorable family walks. The kids loved it. We got a great arm workout paddling that kayak. Kayaking is a great way to tone your arms and shoulders, while having fun.
